The Blanket materials
Unfortuantelly I could not find any other 100% natural fabrcs with this plain weaving.
These are mix of wool and some synthetics. But I calm myself with the thought that blankets can be used in defferent purposes. I also collected the leftover threads when I shredded the edges so I could use them to knit something.

First ideas in January - is it even possible?
I found two round wood sticks form the ends of a billboard that I will use in my collection.
Originaly I was planning to try out wood bending for the frame but then I thought that I don't want to waste the sticks, because I think that they are as good.
The frame works well, I made joints in the ends that the construction would be more stable, placed a piece of triangular EVA (shoe sole material) in the corners and covered it with leather.

The idea of the frame is not to carry much weight, but to give support to the blanket-bag. The fastening system ( a loop, the heavyer the bag is the more it closes) will carry the weight. Putting the ends of the rope between the layers of the blanket and guiding them under the frame will create shoulder straps.

The blanket-bag represents a concept.

It is one of the many ways how it is possible to use a blanket, it is multifunctional and I believe that multifunctionality is a form of sustainable design.

Imagine asking your beloved out for a picnic, having a nice meal and a few glasses of wine on the blanket in a park or by the sea. During the evening it gets colder and it's nice to walk home, warm blanket covering the couples' shoulders. Arrived at home, the frame can be hung up on a wall as a decoration in a hallway and the blanket can be taken to the living room to keep the feet warm while watching a movie.

While making the gusset shoes I realized how good it is to pre-last (and moisture) the shoe for a day or two and then do the actual lasting. I think it is necessary for Bentivegna construction, because then it is easyer to work with the upper, leather is more flexible and doesn't move away from it's place that much.

Stones from Lapland, Nordkap and Eastern Finland.
Beautiful weights!

It took 2,5 days to sew the uppers.

Tried out the making of counterlining.

I decided to try out Bentivegna construction after I saw a video in YouTube.
I think this edge will give the shoe more handmade look and keeps the sole pieces together. I will improvise, it's a great way to learn.

EVA waste, for my dissapointment there is not enough of it at school ;)
But it is great that students don't waste tehe material!

I will use these pieces for constructing the wedge for my gusset shoe. The bad thing about this is the amount of adhesive that I need to use + the pieces have different thicknesses, so I need to use the grinding machine.

Making patterns by hand creates a lot of waste, during the collection making process I will collect the pieces together to get a better overview of how much paper is actually wasted in a design proccess.
